Parable of talentsImage via Wikipedia

Luke 19:27, my favorite verse in the entire Bible. This is Jesus speaking. He says: “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me

This is Jesus, the “Prince of Peace,” the person who is supposed to bring peace on Earth and good will toward man, commanding that anyone who doesn’t believe in him, or doesn’t want him to rule over them, should be killed. That’s right, Jesus, the son of God, demanding that all non-Christians should be slain.

The standard response is that this isn’t Jesus speaking “as Jesus.” This is Jesus speaking as “The Nobleman,” it’s part of a parable.

The reason I love this scripture is because it really doesn’t matter if it’s a parable or not. Every single interpretation I have ever read of the Parable of the Talents, or the Parable of the Pounds, which are basically the same story, says that the Nobleman represents God.

So you either have Jesus speaking “as Jesus” outside of a parable, telling you to slay all non-believers, or you have Jesus speaking “as God” through the parable telling you to slay all non-believers.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a parable or not. This is Jesus telling you to kill everybody who doesn’t believe in him.

Now, Christians aren’t out there currently slitting the throats of atheists, thank goodness, so they must think it means something else.

If Jesus doesn’t literally mean to go out and kill anyone who won’t let him reign over them, then what does he mean?

TOUGH QUESTION FOR CHRISTIANS #11:

WHAT DID JESUS MEAN WHEN HE COMMANDED HIS FOLLOWERS TO BRING UNBELIEVERS HITHER AND “SLAY THEM BEFORE ME?”

  1. OK I will tell you what Jesus meant by this statement but before you post scripture and twist it please keep the whole scripture in it's context. First Jesus was not talking about God or Himself for that matter but he was talking about an Earthly King and how you are to handle the things that you are given to you.
